Real. Good. Pinot.
We have to talk about a problem. A first world problem, but a problem, nonetheless. If you’re a fan of Pinot Noir – it’s become near impossible to find a bottle worth pouring under $15. We can blame a movie from twenty years ago (yes it’s been that long since ‘Sideways’ came out) but this is the new reality for Pinot Noir shoppers. We share your frustrations and while we don’t always have a solution … today we’re excited to share an exception to this new rule.
The truth is, a sample bottle of Thea Pinot Noir hit our desk months ago – yet our Team didn’t get around to sampling it until just recently. At the first sniff of this wine, we began kicking ourselves for not having pounced on this steal of a Pinot Noir much, much sooner. But alas – there’s no penalty for being late to the party.
Thea Pinot Noir comes to us from the South of France by a familiar producer by the name of Les Vignobles Foncalieu. They’re a cooperative of growers throughout the Languedoc-Roussillon. Their collective vineyard holdings amount to over 4,000 hectares from 650 member wine growers. Thea represents cooler climates in the South with land rich in limestone. Thea offers up the precision character we expect from French Pinot with the supple mouthfeel we adore from California. Enjoy it for a mere $14.99!
