The Frisco Sour

In the world of cocktails, the Whiskey Sour is a timeless classic.  As with all classics, there are variations on the original recipe offering new takes.  Today we share with you the Frisco Sour.  The drink started its life as The Frisco Cocktail, a simple combination of Bourbon and Benedictine.  It eventually was embellished with lemon and lime to create The Frisco Sour.  It is a tart refreshing cocktail that can be made with either Bourbon or Rye.  We have tried both and find that the spicy, grassy nature of Rye lends itself best to the herbal accents in the Benedictine.  In either instance the Frisco Sour is a great variation on the Whiskey Sour and one worthy of dusting off that old bottle of Benedictine for.

The Frisco Sour

In a shaker glass filled with ice add:

  • 2 Ounces of Bourbon or Rye Whiskey (we prefer Rye)
  • ½ Ounce Bénédictine Liqueur
  • ½ Ounce Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • ½ Ounce Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice

Shake and strain into a chilled cocktail saucer.  Garnish with a lemon slice.
