We love the fall season because it is time for cocktails around the fire pit. Today we offer you a smoky cocktail using Mezcal and Amaro. Mezcal is naturally smoky and add to that the bitter sweet bite of Averna and the crowning touch of Cappeletti’s Amaro Sfumato, for a drink that tastes like the sweet smell of wood smoke even before the pit is lit! Cappeletti’s Amaro Sfumato is a bit of an oddity but well worth having on your back bar whenever a smoky accent is needed. It is made with a range of herbs and spices with the addition of Chinese Rhubarb which has a naturally smoky aroma. It is an optional crowning touch, but worth pursuing to add another layer of smoke to the drink. In a pinch a dash of Laphroiag Single malt will also do. Cheers!
Smoky Mezcal Sour In a shaker glass filled with ice add:
Shake and strain into an oversized lowball glass over fresh cracked ice. Then Float 1 Teaspoon of Cappeletti Amaro Sfumato on top of the drink (optional). Garnish with an orange twist.
