A ‘Must Try’ wine from a rising star …
It’s not often we find new names in an old part of the wine world such as the Rhone Valley. Let’s face it … the Rhone has had quality wine since the 1300s, that’s some history. A would be new comer has to cut through a crowded field of celebrated names and established houses. If you’re able to build yourself up in the face of greatness – you’re probably destined for it.
Enter Adrien Roustan and his small property, Domaine D’Ourea. Parcels of his estate are in both Vacqueyras and Gigondas, two of the Southern Rhone’s most recognized appellations behind Chateauneuf du Pape. Adrien established himself in 2009 after learning from some of the worlds best winemakers in both Burgundy & California. Upon starting his own Domaine, he pursued organic farming practices earning certification in 2012. Eight years later he would push towards Biodynamics in his vineyards. All things take time in the vineyard and after a decade of meticulous farming, his wines are starting to raise the bar in the Rhone.
Any wine to bear the Domaine D’Ourea is nothing short of exceptional. Including his cleverly labeled ‘Tire Bouchon’ rouge. A five varietal blend meant to showcase the strengths of Adrien’s vineyard management & winemaking technique in an unpretentious way. ‘Tire Bouchon’ literally translates to ‘Corkscrew’ which you’ll find yourself reaching for frequently with a few bottles of this stashed on the wine rack.
