Today’s cocktail is not for the faint of heart. The Devil’s Desire is strong, sweet, tart, a bit funky and hot as hell! It was inspired by the daily morning tonic we take of local honey, vinegar and cayenne tincture for health benefits and to counterbalance the effects of the previous day’s cocktails such as the one we present to you today. Cayanne tincture is available at your local health food store and is a great way to add heat (spice) to any cocktail. Honey has a natural soothing property that rounds out the heat of the Cayanne. To these ingredients we add Smith & Cross Traditional Navy Strength Rum (114 proof) and a splash of pineapple juice. Smith & Cross is a very distinctive Jamaica Pot Still rum with a freaky nose and fiery palate, key to the character of the Devil’s Desire. We suggest you try the Devil’s Desire as prescribed below and then should you need, adjust the dose of cayenne tincture to your own desire. Cheers!
Devil’s Desire In a shaker glass filled with ice add:
Shake until painfully cold, then shake a bit more. Strain into a chilled cocktail saucer. Garnish with a small wedge of pineapple.
*Honey Syrup In a small saucepan on low heat add:
Heat slowly stirring constantly until honey and water are combined and the honey is thinned. Remove from heat and cool. (Keeps in the refrigerator for 5-7 days). |
